Taylor
Taylor Swift may be the most rare of all pop stars. She was an artist capable of successfully cross the divide between pop and country while sweeping the globe. Swift shed her country roots like they were a second skin to reveal that she was arguably the smartest pop-oriented singer/songwriter of her time, one who could harness the zeitgeist make it personal and equally impressively do opposite. Swift's early tracks, such as the neotribute for Tim McGraw were a testament to her talent. The second album Fearless in 2008 showcased the songwriter finding her voice, and also a larger fan base. Fearless had a great success not only in the United States, having six platinum-certified singles. In fact, the Top Ten songs Love Story and You Belong with Me were the main reasons for this. It also performed very well across the globe. Swift could build on her success through Speak Now almost two year later. Swift's popularity continued to grow over her next three albums - Red (2012) 1989 (2014) as well as Reputation (2017) and Reputation in 2017 which saw her move into a pop realm where she already belonged. Although she slowed down her strategy with 2020's stripped down sister album folklore, and Evermore she was still atop the charts, a place she kept with the re-recordings of her earlier catalog, as well as Midnights her chart-topping synth-heavy 2022 set.
